I spent some time going through a giant loop with youtube, and it's partner/creator section of it's site and no matter what i did it always seemed to send me back to my page to enable monetization, from what i read youtube has a new system of "partnerships" In which if your account is enabled for monetization, you, in youtubes eyes are a partner, and from what i gathered going through googles/youtubes help forums, things that old partners have, new ones won't be able to quit, so my question is, what is the point to applying to channels like TGN and Machinima, if youtube is already giving people the ability to make money off their videos, yes i understand that they can give them spotlight, which could mean more veiws which would mean more money, but that also means (in tgns case for example) even if it's only 20% of "a $10 dollar CPM ad-buy" as an example, Your still not getting all of the prodift, (Not like we are anyway since google/youtube is taking most of it), or can tgn and other places like machinima actually give partners they take on the "old youtube partnership features" Such as the banner and custom thumbnail? Just curious on peoples opinions and thoughts and what not.

the reason people try and join networks is because for gamers it is really hard, because YouTube need the rights for you using the games that you play, for example i want to monetize a video but i dont have the rights to it, YouTube would remove it from monetization and you could have the risk of losing your Adsense account meaning you wont be able to earn money from it.

I agree with the above poster who nailed it on the head. The vast majority of partner gaming channels come to TGN/TGS/Machinima/etc for 3 reasons:

1 - You can't monetize gaming videos on YT very easily.. multiplayer isn't so bad, but anything singleplayer is gonna be incredibly tough and will probably just lead to your videos being deleted or worse.

2 - Better pay.. default AdSense monetization pays out in peanuts and the saying "anything is better than nothing" seriously does not apply here.

3 - Partner features.. I hear tales that anyone who has monetization on their channel (such as default AdSense), will be getting partner features such as thumbnails/headers etc eventually, but who knows if or when that'll happen. Thumbnails alone are incredibly powerful and well worth getting a proper partnership.

If you take your channel seriously, all three of the above are not just wanted, but required.

I can see why you would say that, But from what i read of tgn's standards/requirements for their partner channels, is to not have any form of cutscene anyway, which kind of ruins single player(http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright,
Bad: Cut-Scenes or Commercial Music in Games

). Yes i know with even with machinima some companies like rockstar just don't tolerate any of their cut scenes being uploaded to youtube and they will get flagged, but from tgns handbook which i just linked, all cut scenes are not okay to be uploaded by their standards/requirements, i have yet to read machinimas take on it, but most machinima partners i see, upload all sorts of aingle player with cut scenes. As i said in my post in question form, "can they give partners they take on ""old youtube partner features""? " I have been making custom thumbnails for my channel and videos and my own custom banners for quite some time now waiting to be able to be partnered with any of these channels, currently i do meet the standards for to apply to tgn as a partner, but if they aren't able to give me "old partner features" such as thumbnails and custom banners, and i still wouldn't be bale to use cut scenes, which i already don't do, but want to do, better pay would be nice yes, but i wouldn't want to tie myself to a network seeing how most of them have horrid contracts, not saying that it tgn is bad about it at least because i don't have any experience dealing with them, or heard anything bad about their contracts, but for machinima for example they can do some very shady and dirty things with their contracts,

The handbook says that some (i think rather the most)companies allow you to use the ingame footage. I have allot of cut scene's in my video's and still got partnered. It is the commercial music that's bad.
