Does anyone know how to live stream with Wirecast for youtube with anything higher than 360p? Help is needed ASAP! Thanks
So here is what I found after research. Apparently we have the basic live stream enabled which doesn't let us stream anything other than 360p (which is garbage I mean come on we are gamers and no one will watch a gameplay in 360p) and we can't have ads playing live. Only people with the advanced have it. http://support.google.com/youtube/b...25&topic=2562639&page=guide.cs&answer=2562653 To this day every single machinima partner has had the advanced since day one (I even asked my friends who are with machinima) So why do we get the basic? And how on earth do we even get the advanced enabled? Why is TGN so behind all the other networks and so late?
Requesting advanced features YouTube Live offers an Advanced option on a very limited basis to certain qualified partners. You must demonstrate that you have an excellent understanding of live streaming and of the YouTube Live platform. You must have successfully executed high-traffic events using the basic feature set. You must prove your confidence in using the additional features with very little or no support.
That should answer your own question, also, keep in mind Machinima is the only other network that actively uses YouTube live no other networks do and all of the partners that do have a large audience or subscriber base.
It said in order to get it you must contact your partner manager. Who is that for us? Who do we contact when we feel like we have the requirements?
I can look into it for you, but unless you have hundred's of viewers (500+) I doubt most will qualify. It's a premium service, like twitch partnership. Your using more bandwidth so they want more revenue from you so you have to meet them.
There are no ads right now enabled for the basic ones though right? So they are earning nothing anyways.
IMO you are better off streaming on twitch. You have more control over the settings, ads, and a better UI from what I've seen. I've watched server big youtubers using YT for streaming and with the lost revenue it just doesnt make sense to me atm.ATM 1 Pre-roll add vs Ads run when you wish + the fact that with Twitch the partner cap is only 400 atm. If YT wants 500 seems like twitch is a clear winner. That being said I never understood why twitch had a minimum for their partner program. I consistently run 100 - 200 people watching my streams, its not great revenue but its something. Twitch not partnering me is a loss of revenue for both them and myself.
Twitch actually does show ads for your streams but you dont earn money from it if your not a partner with them which is a bad move. YouTube won't show ads though which is what I don't get because it is kind of stupid that they don't want to earn money I mean at least with the basic features include revenue if your not giving us anything above 360p. I'm doing a podcast so the audio quality won't change therefore I'm staying on YouTube Live now Twitch because I won't have a video it will just be audio and my audience is on YouTube anyway and after it is done when it is recorded as a video then people can watch it again on my channel.
