Hey George I uploaded a star wars video and it got blocked saying it was owned by FOX. Was just wondering if you could give some insight into why this is and does this mean that no-one can post star wars let's play's anymore?

Thanks for your help on the first video, I will get rid of the editing that was done by FIFA and not myself.

And thanks for helping me with the second video.

Thanks George! What about using music from another game in a game? For example, adding Sonic The Hedgehog music in sped up parts of a Pokémon game.

    itsthemarkey,

Some of the in-game audio for this clip contains song/audio by human voice talent. Most often, these people are compensated for their work and have their work protected through copyright. Anytime you are using another human's work as your own, you are on very shaky ground--which seems to be the case here. Some game companies will allow you to use in-game footage and audio to promote their product--but some may have strict guidelines to protect a contracted voice actor's work.

I will look into updating the Handbook with this information as well.

Okay thanks, even thought it's only a Copyright Notice, does it meen that it must be taken down to have any chance of being a partner with TGN?

Also I just edited the FIFA Street video and removed the intro that you were speaking of.
In the end it did remove 1 of the entitys the copyright notice was talking of but it kept this 1:

Your video, FIFA Street Demo - Part 1 [Livestream Highlights] , may include content that is owned or administered by this entity:

    • Entity: Ministry of Sound UK (MVR) Content Type: Sound Recording

I'm guessing this has something to do with the in-game songs, unless it has something again to do with what you said earlier about voice actors because it has the people talking in the game whilst kicking the ball around throughout the game. You can check this around 13.40 of the video to hear them.

You guessed right. The in-game songs are by Record Label Artists and they will have made contract deals with the game publisher (EA) in protecting their material. There is a definite difference between game music composed by a game developer and music recorded by an artist and used in a game. You will want to make sure you do not incorporate the latter into your videos or streams.

As a general rule, using music audio from EA Sports titles is a bad idea, since almost all of them will have music by Record Label Artists.

    Okay thanks.

1 more thing, I know copyright strikes effect partnership with TGN but would in-game music from these artists affect my chance of getting that partnership. When I say that I mean if I played a game and it had in-game music from known artists that want their material protected but like so it had a commentary over it, would this falter my chance of partnership?. And If so would I have to take down the video to be able to have the chance to receive Partnership?

Most of these answers to these questions are on the handbook. The EA Sports hint about music is a really good advice. Never thought about it.

    itsthemarkey,

Having copyright material on your channel will hurt your chances of partnership, period. No matter how you sugar coat it (though commentary, voiceover, etc.) you are using copyright material and eventually it will be noticed. I would recommend removing all content on your channel that you know breaks copyright, even if it has not been claimed by a Publisher yet. Doing so will be the only surefire way to make sure you don't ruin your chance to get partnered.

    Hey :)
    I have one question.

    I have a youtube-channel (My Intro is Copyright-Free) and i was not accepted to become a TGN-partner.
So i really cannot understand why. Maybe you find some videos, which contain some copyrighted music.

Because I DO NOT understand why I am not allowed to join TGN.
    Hier is my Channel-Link.
    www.youtube.com/user/AustrianProject

I would REEALY love it, if you looked at my channel :)

    Best regards Knosti

I am not an expert but I would say your intro is the problem:

Bad: I Got the Music from a Non-Copyright Music YouTube Channel

    Why do you believe them?
Many "non-copyright music" channels actually have copyright music and don't know it!
You need written permission (an email is okay) from the music owner that states: "This music may be used royalty-free for commercial purposes" otherwise it is not okay to use.

    That's right!

"Attribution" simply means giving credit to the owner with a link to learn more.

Bad: I Won't Enable Ads - Is It Okay to Upload?

    ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Writing this in the video description does not make it okay:
    • Copyright infringement NOT intended. For entertainment purposes only.
    • I do not claim this video as mine.
Never upload copyright content, even if you don't enable ads or claim the video.

It is ok according to the Copyright Handbook. Please, read the handbook first. Everything is explained very easily. :]

    http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright

    Good: Game Trailers with Commentary

Game content is an exception because the video game industry generally encourages spreading their content, as long as it is not the original content.
For example, this Modern Warfare 3 trailer analysis with commentary is okay:
