Can I use a remix of a video game song, not from the game I am actually playing? And since your a TGN staff, can you answer http://tgn.tv/community/threads/question-about-partnership.3574/#post-16874 while you're at it? I need a definite answer. Thanks!
Hey George it would be good to know whether or not (as TGN Directors/Partners) we can use that actual soundtracks of the Video Games we post. In example I have used the BF3 Main Theme on my videos. I am pretty sure I know the answer but it would be a good addition to the Copyright page.
To my understanding we can use the music from games that we are doing commentary. In your case you could use the BF3 theme only on BF3 commentary videos.
Hey i was just wondering if Skrillex is copyright free or not. I have a skrillex remix of a song so i am just about confused on the copyright rule for this.
Is it okay to play WWE '12 games w/ commentary? Will the music from the wrestlers' entrances put me in risk of a copyright?
Hey TGN i would like to check if the following videos have copyright on then. I don't want to get into any troubles because a YouTube partner! Thank u so much TGN! <3 1. Thank you TGN once again. I have checked with the artist of the other songs used in my edits on my channel all are ok with it & so forth. This song that it is copy-right free and the only recruitments are to be credited in the description! Something I have done!
I have given the creators of the non-copyrighted song credit, but i was wondering, can you accidentally get a copyright strike from non-copyrighted music because i have heard that some people still ended up getting a strike even from the non-copyrighted music.
I answered your second question! See http://tgn.tv/community/threads/question-about-partnership.3574/#post-16927 The answer to your first question is: No. You cannot use music or sounds from one game in a video about another game. I updated the Copyright Handbook to answer this for everyone! See http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright
Good question! You cannot mix and match music. For example: Do not use music or sounds from one game in a video about another game! You can use music from a game in a video about that game.
Straight from the Copyright Handbook: Bad: I Got the Music from a Non-Copyright Music YouTube ChannelWhy do you believe them? Many "non-copyright music" channels actually have copyright music and don't know it!You need written permission (an email is okay) from the music owner that states: "This music may be used royalty-free for commercial purposes" otherwise it is not okay to use.See http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright
Honestly, we cannot tell you if all your videos are copyright-free. That's up to you! Read the entire Copyright Handbook and decide for youself See http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright To answer your specific question about using music with permission, I copied this straight out of the Copyright Handbook: Good: Music with PermissionI, [artist], give you permission to use my [music] for commercial purposes royalty-free.If [artist] sends you this email, you may use his [music] in your videos."for commercial purposes royalty-free" means you may show ads next to your videos and make money without paying a royalty. The artist normally asks for credit in return. He gets free publicity, you get free music.
Skrillex is definitely NOT copyright-free No artist is copyright-free unless they explicitly state "everyone may use my music for commercial purposes royalty-free".
Good question! The answer is in the Copyright Handbook, please read it! See http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright I copied this straight out of the Copyright Handbook: Good: Use Music that Comes with the ProductIt is okay to use music that comes with a product in videos about that product. For example: You can use music from a game in a video about that game.
Hello George, is it ok if I will use only footage from the trailer (I will use free copyrigt music not the original one) in my video tutorial? like here (few first seconds) EA SPORTS trailer Thanks.
Good question! The answer is in the Copyright Handbook. See http://tgn.tv/handbooks/#copyright I copied this straight out of the Copyright Handbook: Good: Original Game Trailers are Okay if...You cannot post official game trailers, but you can post official trailers with commentary. But, what if the full trailer is contained in your video?Rule of Thumb: If your original work is at least as long as the actual trailer, it is okay. At least half needs to be your work, not the trailer. For example: (Skip to 1:35 to see the full trailer) If you just say "Hey, watch this cool trainer" (play trailer) "Hope you liked that!" it is not okay.
So, is it ok if I post a trailer, and in the same video when the trailer finishes I let it play all over again with my commentary ? Because I want the trailer to play first and than the analysis. Thanks
Hello George, I read through the handbook and it says: "Good: Use Music that Comes with the Product" I always do commentarys on my let's plays of games yet I still seem to get copyright strikes on a few of them because of the music normally, and this is the in-game music. I ended up getting the 2 notices on this: Your video, FIFA Street Demo - Part 1 , may include content that is owned or administered by these entities: Entity: Ministry of Sound UK (MVR) Content Type: Sound Recording Entity: EA Content Type: Audiovisual content Next Video:This video is the only 1 in it;s series that has been copyright noticed for music. Your video, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Let's Play - Part 25 , may include content that is owned or administered by this entity: Entity: Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society Content Type: Musical Composition So can you help me see if there's anything wrong here? because I Don't believe there is according to the TGN Handbook. Thanks
Vlad, Follow this rule of thumb, as posted in the Handbook: Make sure that you have just as much original content in the video as you have trailer content. So more trailer footage = a need for more original footage.
itsthemarkey, The Copyright Notice sent to you refers to a "Sound Recording," and from watching your video, I can say they are likely claiming the FIFA Street Demo Intro that you included in your video. This intro contains unique works: Voice testimonials/statements by professional athletes. (Likely the reason they sent you a notice) Professional editing by someone other than yourself. Musical score that is not your own. The TGN Handbook states that in-game music is allowed, but there is a fine line in this video between in-game music and a professionally-edited composition with licensed music from an artist (The FIFA Street Demo Intro sequence). You can likely avoid copyright in this video simply by omitting that intro sequence and just show actual gameplay. I will make sure the TGN Handbook is updated to clarify more on situations like this one. I am still looking into this second video and will let you know why they are tagging it for copyright.
