In this thread please help me with ideas for custom titles for achievements here on the TGN Forums. Please limit your list to 10 titles per person and try to not duplicate any titles others have posted. I will then choose from the ideas and put them into place.
My guess is it will be similar to what you have under your username. Well for the first post achievement clearly Newbie is the way to go. I'll have to look through the achievements list once I'm done with my blog entry
We could make the Posts levels describing experience. We could intergrate this with Ryko's suggestion of Newbie. My suggestion for 1000 Messages is "Grizz-like Poster" with the description being "Your getting as good as the master, but you ain't Grizz baby." Just something I thought from the top of my head.
TGN MVP - For people who arn't staff, yet have proven themselves to know their way around the rules of YouTube and TGN.
Right, sorry for the delayed list What I'd suggest is a title system like the one below. Think of the number of post/likes as slightly arbitrary, as Thomas would know the forum user stats better. And the good thing is that all of these are easily possible in xenForo General Posting Ranks TGN Legend................................... 1000 post >200 likes Omnipresent.................................. 1000 posts Social Life? Pff. ............................. 750 posts No Thread Left Unturned! ............... 500 posts Yes, I live here. ............................. 300 posts Forum Warrior .............................. 150 posts Sticking Around .............................. 75 posts Spammin’ Away............................... 50 posts TGN Member .................................. 30 posts TGN Newbie ................................... 10 posts Newbie (or Free Agent) ................... <10 posts <2 likes Usefulness Ranks TGN MVP ..................................... Very useful in some way, or what Hugh suggested The Walking Encyclopedia ............. >100 likes Custom Title (can edit their own)..... >50 likes The Tool (or Toolbox)..................... >20 likes (or high ratio of likes to posts) Spam Prince/Princess...................... <4 Likes BUT over 100 posts (or very bad likes to post ratio) Faceless ........................................ No avatar IT’S MAA BIRTHDAY!! <3 ................. Birthday Let me know what you think!
Definitely need titles for likes, thumbs up. I like the name of TGN MVP, or any witty names for anyone who's extremely helpful. If you give them for messages you're going to get way too many posting random garbage trying to get their post count up. But may bring up activity on forums to race for the highest post count. =)
Yep, visible post counts and titles are a sure way to bring around the one or two "lets post to get our titles" people - but to be fair who cares. I think most of us will agree this place could use a bit more posts that don't start with "OMGZZ check my video plzzzzzzzzz". I'm sure there'll be someone to do the same with the like titles. Still, if we implement the system we were discussing in this and the other thread (here), it should result in less spam. Right now the forums are simply spammed with: 1. Video links 2. Support questions 3. More self-promotion, giveaways, etc. The videos links are far too many, and pop up far too often. This is not good for anyone - too many links to keep track of for forum users, and as a result the video owners/posters rarely get much feedback and or views on their videos. Support questions are important and can help a lot of people, but the majority of them are answered over and over and over again - with the same response, which is usually also part of a nicely organized Handbook and/or guide. This also applies to "review my content" (assuming the creators actually want feedback, and not just views) - as most of the feedback is also things that have been perfectly explained in the handbooks and/or guides. If you had to make a few posts and get a like or two before making your own "feedback plzzz" thread, you're more likely to say ... know what a blue snowball or the TGN dashboard are, or if a disabled Adsense account "could cause problems" If new users were more encouraged to first look at some of the already existing information ("read the stickies before asking" type of typical forum mentality), or had a look at a few other threads/videos/feedback before posting their own, they may already find excellent answers to their questions. Not to mention that some will feel more involved and become more likely to stick around, rather than just posting a new thread (which will be lost in no time) and never getting involved. Guess that's my 2c (or more like tri fiddy)
