I'm all for Happauge. Even though I do not own a product from them I plan on getting one in the future. I have also seen numores YouTube commenators who use their products have great and high quality videos.

Yeh Happauges are very good, but I think that Black Magic are slightly better because they have the brightness and contrast a lot more nicely set than happauge do but they're both great devices! :)

@RedRevengeGaming, That they are both good devices. As of right now I'm using a Roxio what do you think of it?

I think they are very good too, but as they only record in 480P they will only keep your channel going for a while. Your channel however is extremely good If i may so myself so you can keep it going for a long time. However Roxio is the best "non-HD" Recording device you can get!

P.S I subbed to ya channel and maybe if you want we can do a dual commentary one time!

    I tested out
a happage pvr, avermedia , roxio , dazzle , blackmagic shuttle.
I will write out the difference later on.

Well here's the difference between thoses device.

I will take out the hdpvr as a base.

    HDPVR -
    + good recoding option (m2ts , tm , mp4)
+ can record SD console (but need to synch out sound if you are on a pal device)
+ can capture out to 1080I
    - Total media extreme , to tool used for capture is unstable and can crash went it want
    - box design look cheap
Regarding sharpess issue set luma on croma to 0 on media extreme option

    Avermedia -
+ colors are a bit more vivid than the hd pvr
+ easy to use , no need to computer near
+ can go out to 1080I
    - there's no hard drive with it , in otherwords is cheaper than the pvr , but if you brought an harddrive with it , it will cost more
    - there's lots of issue capturing a game thats not of your region (ex capturing an ntsc game on a pal television)

Black magic shuttle (not the card) -
    + hdmi input (doesn't work on ps3)
    + really nice box design
+ colors are more vivid than pvr, just a very little more than the avermedia
    - It can be very unstable at random time for whatever reason

    Dazzle
    + cheap
    - SD only
    - capturing hardware given with it is a failre

    Roxio
    + nice small box design
    + very stable
    - SD only
    - Is on component cable but can only capture SD
    - your ps3/360 must be set on the lowest resolution , otherwise it will make crap on screen

Anyway for HD recoring device , my choice will go to the hdpvr
and for SD device i will go to.... NONE or at least the roxio...

Well, guess it's Hauppauge for me, simply because I own a Hauppauge HD PVR and it was suddenly my first choice when I saw a lot of YouTube use it. ;)

ok, I would go for the Black Magic Intensity Pro (Which i'm getting) because the colours are better and it goes in the back of ma computer! :)

First off - not everything above is factual, so it's always best to just do your own research and be sure :)

Black Magic Intensity Pro (the card) is clearly the best of what you suggested, mainly because it actually processes the signal on it's own. The AverMedia HD DVR capture card is probably second best (it's what I use).

The Happauge, Roxio (which goes up to 1080i...) and most of those external PVRs do NOT use HDMI, offer lower quality and are overpriced in comparison (because they're external). There's no good reason to get one if you have a desktop that can fit an actual PCI card. Depending on your setup you may need to worry about HDMI splitters and HDCP (protection), but it works out just fine either way.

    Hope that helps

I'd like you to add in there the Avermedia DarkCrystal HD (AKA the Avermedia AverTV HD USB DVR) since that is the better option. It records up to 20 Mbps rather than the 13.5 Mbps the HD PVR does. It's also cheaper ($150).

Also compare the Elgato since that is probably the best one on the market right now. If you have the $200 to spend, it's the way to go.

can you hookup the crystal edtion on your computer ? (because i use my hd pvr when i stream with my ps3 or my wii) and i know you couln't do it with the regular avermedia.

I've seen some very good quality from AverMedia, but Black Magic steals this. Especially the one that takes a PCI-e slot in your PC, absolutely perfect quality. I currently own a Hauppauge HD PVR.
